Professional Biography
Lorraine Lawrence-Whittaker leads the firm calling upon her 28 years of intensive trial and litigation work. After a brief award-winning stint as a legal journalist for The Daily Record, Ms. Lawrence-Whittaker jumped into the fire of working for a high-pressure, high-end plaintiff’s firm that litigated major business fraud and medical malpractice cases against the likes of Ernst & Young, LLP, Bell Atlantic and Bristol-Myers Squibb. Ms. Lawrence-Whittaker was an associate on the team that secured a $185,000,000 settlement from Ernst & Young in the Merry-Go-Round bankruptcy malpractice case and was the primary associate on a medical device case that garnered a $10,000,000 verdict in DC Federal Court against Bristol-Myers Squibb. Ms. Lawrence-Whittaker was fortunate to be mentored by Arnold Weiner, Esquire and Jonathan Portner, Esquire who have continued to graciously answer when called.
Most recently, Ms. Lawrence-Whittaker and of Counsel, Edward J. Brown, have teamed up for trial verdicts of $20.3 million against Rite Aid and $2.129 million against Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC.
Since 2004 Ms. Lawrence-Whittaker has been the managing member of a Maryland based firm where she has litigated cases in the federal, state and administrative courts of Maryland and the District of Columbia, where she is licensed. She is a sought after trial counsel for cases in other jurisdictions including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia, among others in personal injury, criminal, family law, estates and trusts, business and real property litigation.
Among her most unusual clients is Maryland’s own “Anna’s Bandit”, the “Winningest Thoroughbred of North America of 2019.” Ms. Lawrence-Whittaker was delighted to represent this special equine twice before the Maryland Racing Commission.

Professional Biography
A veteran of the litigation bar for over 40 years, Edward J. “Bud” Brown is known for his collegial personality while bringing his tenacious style to bear for all of his clients. A past President of the Maryland Defense Counsel, Mr. Brown has well over 30 published appellate opinions on a range of topics and is sought after by large institutional and private individual clients alike.
Most recently, Mr. Brown, along with our founder, Lorraine Lawrence-Whittaker, have taken on such giants of industry as Asplundh Tree Experts, LLC ($2.129 million trial verdict), Rite Aid ($20.3 million trial verdict) as well as Yum Brands (KFC), LG Chem and other large corporate defendants on behalf of Lawrence-Whittaker, PC’s clients.

Professional Biography
A member of the Maryland bar since 1999, James “Jim” Dore adds to Lawrence Whittaker’s trial team his decades of skill and insight in the areas of civil litigation, family law, appellate advocacy, guardianships, and probate administration, among others. Jim’s unique perspective and understanding of the practice of law in Maryland today is borne of years spent providing effective legal counsel to his clients and advocating on their behalf before judges, juries, and administrative law bodies throughout the State. Jim’s ability to break down and explain to our clients in an affable and straightforward manner the often complicated and dense legal issues applicable to the particular facts of their cases ensures that our clients have a clear and realistic understanding of both the legal landscape on which their cases stand and the practical considerations involved to reach an optimal resolution.
Prior to his becoming an attorney, Jim was a non-commissioned officer in the United States Navy operating radio communications networks and undersea surveillance systems. Upon return to the civilian world, Jim served in Maryland state government as an aide in the offices of Governors William Donald Schaeffer and Parris Glendening as well as legislative liaison for the former Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development. Jim is the proud father of two amazing daughters and enjoys hiking and playing guitar in his spare time.
